Style, confidence and personal expression

Make room for different ways of enjoying hosiery without assigning somebody a role or identity from their appearance.

Let people describe themselves

Clothing can be an expression of taste, creativity or comfort, but it does not explain every part of somebody’s identity. Listen to the words a person uses for themselves and avoid applying a label they have not chosen. An interest in pantyhose may be central to one person’s style and an occasional detail for another. Neither approach makes somebody more entitled to respect or attention.

Give compliments without instructions

A considerate compliment acknowledges something the person has chosen to share without demanding a different photograph or appearance. Ask whether style is a topic they enjoy discussing. Advice about how somebody should dress is rarely a useful substitute for getting to know them, especially when they have not asked for it. Your own preferences can guide who you contact without becoming rules for somebody else to follow.

Keep control of your own presentation

You can explore a new style, return to an old favourite or decide that a particular look is not for you. Do not let a profile description or another person’s enthusiasm override your comfort. Share what matters to you at a pace you choose. Compatibility includes feeling able to disagree and still be treated with consideration, both online and when meeting in person.
